I've used nebula filters of various types for 20 years or so and don't see
any improvement in galaxy views or visibility with a wideband filter. A
wideband filter does assist in finding diffuse and planetary nebula because
it doesn't dim the guide
stars too much and makes the nebula more contrasty against the sky. Of
course, for diffuse and planetary nebula the narrow band filters are amazing
in some
cases Veil Nebula from a city with an 11 Inch Celestron and an OXYlll filter,
or the extensions of M27 from the same location.
